NUR 2114 - Introduction to Transition to Professional Nursing Concepts 4 SH (Prerequisites: BIO 2511 , BIO 2513 , BIO 2521 , BIO 2523 , BIO 2921 , & BIO 2923 with a grade of “C” or better in each course, ENG 1113 , ENG 1123 , EPY 2533 , PSY 1513 , SOC 2113 , SPT 1113 /SPT 2173 , Fine Arts/Humanities) Within the framework of the nursing process and across the lifespan, the focus of this course is to introduce the paramedic, respiratory therapist, and licensed practical nurse to fundamental nursing concepts related to role transition and the introduction of nursing practice and nursing as a profession. Nursing core competencies including the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide safe, quality care are introduced. Laboratory, simulation, and clinical experiences will include fundamental care of clients with a focus on long-term care and professional development. (8 week course: 6 hrs lecture, 3 hrs lab, 3 hrs clinical)
