DDT 2733 - Additive Manufacturing Processes Polymers and Metals 3 SH (Pre/Corequisites: DDT 1743 ) Basic principles and methodology around types of polymers and processes used in the Additive Manufacturing (AM) process. An overview of various types of polymers and metals, Fused Deposition Manufacturing (FDM), Polyjet, Stereolithography (SLA), and Selective Laser Sentering (SLS) will be covered. This course will cover the significance of polymer and metal material properties and structure, different types of polymers available for the AM process and the benefits of basic polymer rapid prototyping. Ideation and production will be implemented requiring students to take a “part” from idea and be able to select the best process and material for the type of product being produced. (2 hr lecture, 2 hr lab)
