NUR 2119 - Foundations of Nursing Concepts 9 SH (Pre/Corequisites: BIO 2511 BIO 2513 BIO 2521 BIO 2523 BIO 2921 BIO 2923 with a grade of “C” or above in each course, ENG 1113 ENG 1123 PSY 1513 SOC 2113 SPT 1113 /SPT 2173 Fine Arts/ Humanities Within the framework of the nursing process and across the lifespan, the focus of this course is on fundamental nursing concepts as well as introduction to nursing concepts related to the management of care of clients experiencing alterations in health. Emphasis is placed on role transition from the licensed practical nurse, paramedic, and respiratory therapist to the registered nurse scope of practice. Nursing core competencies are used to identify expectations of the professional nurse and are integrated throughout clinical, laboratory, simulation experiences, and professional development. (6 hr lecture, 3 hr lab, 4.5 hr clinical)
