HLT 1724 - Fundamentals of Aerial Tree Work3 SH (Prerequisites: Career Certificate in Landscape Management Technology In this course students observe and perform skills in tree climbing and pruning, as well as tree repair, practical rigging, and tree removal as opportunities present themselves. Knowledge of safe tree care operations and tree pruning standards are stressed, and students gain skills in knot tying, aerial rescue and clear communication. Students become competent in determining methods of tree removal, and skilled in operation of chainsaws and selection of removal equipment. Safe work practices, clear communication and knots needed for removals are stressed. (2 hr lecture, 4 hr lab)
