Engineering Drafting and Design Technology

(VC-DT; TC-DT; AAS-DT)

Program Description:

The Drafting and Design Technology programs of study are designed to provide specialized occupational instruction in all phases of drafting technology in order to prepare students for positions in the drafting field.

The Engineering Drafting and Design Technology program of study is designed to provide instruction in all phases of design technology in order to prepare students for positions as designers or computer-aided drafting technicians.  Instruction includes computer-aided design, architectural design, civil planning, 3D-modeling and manufacturing.  A combination of classwork and laboratory experience is stressed.

A grade of “C” must be maintained in each of the Drafting and Design Technology courses. Students who have grades below the required “C” must repeat the course. A course may not be repeated more than twice.

Students seeking admission to this program must meet one of the following minimum assessment scores: ACT®- Reading, 16; Math, 17; and English, 17; OR ACCUPLACER- Reading, 70; Math, 63; and English, 88; OR Next-Generation ACCUPLACER - Reading, 246; and Math, 225; or by approval of the program chairperson.
