Program Description:
The Early Childhood Development Technology program provides preparation for a professional career in Early Childhood Education spanning a variety of career options. This discipline includes classroom instruction, supervised laboratory experiences, and work-based learning experiences. Students will develop competencies that enable them to provide services, teach, and guide young children as related to various early childhood professions.
All students completing the technical program must complete the Pre-Professional Assessment and Certification (Pre-PAC) sponsored by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Students should see an early childhood advisor for further details.
Each course has aligned the domains and competencies of the Early Childhood Education Pre-PAC national assessment. The domains and competencies addressed in the assessment are driven by industry standards.
This early childhood development technology curriculum meets the National Association for the Education of Young Children Standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation and the Mississippi Department of Education Standards and Guidelines for Infants through Pre-Kindergarten (3- and 4-year-olds). The content for the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and Pre-PAC standards are embedded in the Early Childhood Development Technology course work.
