The Banking and Finance Technology (BFT) program is designed to prepare prospective students for the varied career opportunities in the progressive field of financial services. The financial services industry includes commercial banks, savings and loan associations, finance companies, credit unions, businesses, real estate, insurance, and educational facilities. The program is designed to provide an introduction and an overview of the financial services industry, and the opportunities for the student or employee to develop basic financial knowledge and abilities, along with the required competencies and social skills necessary for employment/advancement in the field of finance. Courses in finance, computers, and academics are included.
This program leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree and is preparatory for employment upon graduation from Hinds Community College. Where a transfer to a senior college or university is desired, a conference should be scheduled with a community college counselor for advisement.
