Mechanical Engineering Technology

Program Description:

Mechanical Engineering Technology (Mechatronics) revolves around the design, construction and operation of automated systems, robots, and intelligent products that result from the integration of software and hardware.  Mechanical Engineering Technology (Mechatronics) is the combination of control systems, electronic systems, computer systems, and mechanical systems all in one program. Mechatronics is widely used in the following fields Materials Processing, Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, Xerography, Defense Systems, Consumer Products, and Manufacturing. Mechatronic technicians are responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining/repairing machinery used in manufacturing or industrial environments, as well as troubleshooting, repairing, and programming of automated systems.

• Orientation - Any student (first-time, transfer, and part-time) who begins at Hinds Fall 2007 and later will be required to take Orientation (LLS 1312 /RST 1312 ) to graduate from the College. Exception: Orientation credit (1-3 hrs) transferred to Hinds from another college will satisfy our orientation requirement.
