Aviation Maintenance Technology


(TC-AVMT; AAS-AVMT)

Program Description:


The Aviation Maintenance Technology program prepares individuals to inspect, repair, service, and overhaul aircraft engine components and systems. This program is designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration examinations for certification as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. As such, the FAA Powerplant Rating must be obtained before proceeding to the 4th semester of this program.

Minimum ACT® subscores: English-17, Math-17, Reading-16
Interview with AVMT instructor

“Negative” results of a 5-panel drug screen

Academic Course Requirements:


A student may receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology by completion of the two-year certificate program and 15-16 semester hours of academic courses including:

Total: 15-17 SH

**Additional Graduation Requirements:

  • Orientation - Any student (first-time, transfer, and part-time) who begins at Hinds Fall 2007 and later will be required to take Orientation (LLS 1312 /RST 1312 ) to graduate from the College. Exception: Orientation credit (1-3 hrs) transferred to Hinds from another college will satisfy our orientation requirement. The RST/LLS 1312 graduation requirement will be waived for CTE students who have successfully obtained the Smart Start Credential and can submit the credential prior to applying for graduation.
  • Assessment - A Skills Assessment exam(s) is required to graduate from this program.
