(Prerequisites: HIT 2123 rev., HIT 2133 rev., HIT 2453 rev., HIT 2512 rev., HIT 2543 rev., & HIT 2812 rev.) Students will receive instruction in CPT/HCPCS conventions, guidelines, and coding principles. The student will practice coding guidelines by applying CPT/HCPCS codes to procedural coding cases and scenarios. This course is an introduction to coding with the Health Care Financing Administrations’ Common Procedural Coding System (HCPCS) with emphasis on Current Procedural Coding (CPT); and review of current reimbursement mechanisms. (2 hr lecture, 2 hr lab)
