AA Degree Core Requirements
Communication ENG 1113 , or ENG 1114 , and ENG 1123 , and  SPT 1113  or SPT 2173   9-10 Hours
Computational/Reasoning MAT 1313  or MAT 1314  or MAT 1753  or MAT 1754  or any numbered higher (except MAT 1723 , MAT 1733 , MAT 1743 ) 3-4 Hours
Scientific Reasoning Any Lab Sciences - 1 Lab required (AGR, BIO, CHE, GLY, or PHY) 7 Hours
Humanities/Fine Arts Literature (Any except ENG 2613 ), and HIS (Any), and Fine Arts* 9 Hours
Human Social/Behavioral Six (6) hours from ECO 2113 , ECO 2123 GEO 1113 , GEO 1123 , PSC 1113 , PSY 1513 , PSY 2533 , SOC 2113 , or History (Any) 6 Hours
  Total:  34-36 Hours

*As approved by academic program advisor or counselor.  Acceptable courses include ART 1113 ART 2713 ART 2723 MUS 1113 MUS 2123 DAN 1113 DAN 1123 , and SPT 2233 .

In addition to the above core, students will complete a minimum of 24 hours of electives for an Associate of Arts Degree, (the equivalent of approximately one-half of the bachelor’s degree).  It is recommended that students choose academic courses in their program of study that are based on the requirements of the university of their choice.  Courses required for Mississippi public universities are listed in the IHL/MS Community College Transfer Articulation Agreement or the Mississippi Articulation and Transfer Tool.

Courses that begin with a 0 level designation (ENG 0124 ) will not count toward the number of credits required for graduation. 

Additional Graduation Requirement: Any student (first-time, transfer, and part-time) who begins at Hinds Fall 2007 and later will be required to take Orientation (LLS 1312 /RST 1312 ) to graduate from the College. Exception: Orientation credit (1-3 hrs) transferred to Hinds from another college will satisfy our orientation requirement.

Completion Award: Associate of Arts Degree 62 SH

This suggested Educational Plan is designed to assist in the planning of a student’s course of study. Taking courses in this order is NOT REQUIRED but strongly suggested to ensure completion of all requirements for graduation. It is recommended that students complete required courses as soon as possible.

1Electives may be chosen from any of the academic courses. Technical courses may be used as electives if approved by the academic dean. Technical courses may not transfer to Universities.
