Landscape Management Technology

Program Description:


The Landscape Management Technology program is designed to provide students with skills that lead to employment in the landscape maintenance and landscape installation industries. Specific instruction is offered in the areas of landscape design, plant identification, selection, and care; hardscape construction, irrigation and landscape lighting; equipment use and maintenance; turfgrass management; insect and disease management; and business management. Students may find employment with private landscape maintenance and installation firms, nursery and garden centers, interiorscaping firms, government agencies such as colleges and park systems, golf courses, and commercial or industrial complexes.

To be admitted to this program, a person must have a high school diploma or high school equivalency (GED®, HiSET®, TASC) and must have the following minimum scores: ACT - Reading 17, Math 17, English 17 or ACCUPLACER - Reading 52, Math 63, English 88.  Students whose test scores indicate that they must take REA 0123 , MAT 0123 , or ENG 0123  must complete these courses before enrolling in any HLT courses.  A grade of “C” must be maintained in each of the Landscape Management Technology courses.  Students who have grades below the required “C” must repeat the course.

**Additional Graduation Requirements: Any student (first-time, transfer, and part-time) who begins at Hinds Fall 2007 and later will be required to take Orientation (LLS 1312 /RST 1312 ) to graduate from the College. Exception: Orientation credit (1-3 hrs) transferred to Hinds from another college will satisfy our orientation requirement.

An Assessment Prep review course(s) and Skills Assessment exam(s) are required to graduate from this program.
