(Prerequisites: ENG 1114 or ENG 1113; REA 1213) A study of the International Phonetic Alphabet and training in the phonetic transcription of speech for the improvement of voice and diction. Includes physical characteristics and production of sounds in American English, auditory training, articulation and standard pronunciations, and voice production. (3 hr lecture)
