In addition to the above core, students will complete a minimum of 24 hours of electives for an Associate of Arts Degree, (the equivalent of approximately one-half of the bachelor’s degree). It is recommended that students choose academic courses in their program of study that are based on the requirements of the university of their choice. Courses required for Mississippi public universities are listed in the IHL/MS Community College Transfer Articulation Agreement or the Mississippi Articulation and Transfer Tool. Developmental courses with the exception of MAT 1233 /MAT 1234 ) required as prerequisites for college level courses cannot be used as electives. Effective Summer 2021: Courses that begin with a 0 level designation (ENG 0124 ) will not count toward the number of credits required for graduation.
Additional Graduation Requirement: Any student (first-time, transfer, and part-time) who begins at Hinds Fall 2007 and later will be required to take Orientation (LLS 1312 /RST 1312 ) to graduate from the College. Exception: Orientation credit (1-3 hrs) transferred to Hinds from another college will satisfy our orientation requirement.
*As approved by academic program advisor or counselor. Acceptable courses include ART 1113 , ART 2713 , ART 2723 , MUS 1113 , MUS 2123 , DAN 1113 , DAN 1123 , and SPT 2233 .
